The New York Jets' Flight Crew cheerleading team has come a long way in a very short amount of time.
"We have gone from a small team of ten in 2007, to one of the top ten NFL cheerleading squads in the whole league," said Flight Crew Director Denise Garvey, in a newyorkjets.com video. "To be able to go from non-existence to one of the most reputable teams in the league is something that people want to be a part of."
After a long training process and several rounds of cuts, the team recently wrapped up the final round of the 2012 auditions.
Here's a look back at the top ten sexiest photos from the 2010 New York Jets' Flight Crew auditions. (Please click the blue hyperlinks to view the photos):
1) Preliminary Round: In late-April, the ladies competed in the preliminary round from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
The girls showed class, grace and beauty, but the photo of the day had to be this picture of Flight Crew contestant No. 48, as she displayed excellent balance, poise and calm under pressure.
2) Semi-Final Auditions: According to Garvey, the 2012 cheerleading auditions were "quite a journey." She said the girls went through a preliminary round, where there was an open call and freestyle dancing in front of a group of judges. "They learned choreography and kick routines," she added.
The auditions got noticeably more intense in the semi-final round, as you can see the focus on the girls' faces in the photos. In this picture, contestant No. 126 really has her bright personality come across, but my favorite photo of the day was this great shot of contestant No. 141.
She shows off excellent posture and a firm grasp of the qualities needed to become a top-notch NFL cheerleader. This is another classy group shot that shows off the girls' serious leg power.
3) Finals: The Jets brought in several celebrity judges to help make final selections for the Flight Crew, as Jets lineback Aaron Maybin was on hand with Maxim editor Dan Bova, among others.
There were plenty of eye-popping, high-flying dance routines in the final round, and this fun photo of cheerleading contestant No. 26 seems to capture the energy and excitement that filled the room.
4) Candids: This group shot from the final round features contestants No. 61, 12, 94, 26 and others. I love this picture because the girls were all smiles, and each of their unique personalities came across brightly through the lens.
5) Final Selections: The New York Jets Flight Crew are fan favorites in the Big Apple, and a major asset to the league. Perhaps the cutest photo of them all was the picture of contestants No. 172 and No. 26 enjoying a tender moment prior to the selection of the 2012 roster.
