New York Jets' Top Ten Head Coaches of All-Time: Fan's View - Yahoo! Sports

A little known fact about Rex Ryan is that he's the New York Jets' all-time winningest head coach in the postseason, as he racked up four victories in his six playoff appearances since 2009.

Here's a look at my ranking of the top ten New York Jets head coaches of all-time:

1) Weeb Ewbank: There have been 17 head coaches in New York Jets/New York Titans history, and Ewbank is the only man to deliver a Super Bowl title. 'Nuff said!

2) Bill Parcells: While four men racked up more victories than Parcells as New York Jets head coach, Parcells tallied the best winning percentage (.604) of the bunch.

3) Joe Walton: Walton led the Jets to some solid seasons in the mid-1980s, and ranks just behind Ewbank as the winningest head coach in franchise history. Walton notched 53 victories in his 111 games at the helm of the Jets.

4) Rex Ryan: Ryan is one of just three New York Jets head coaches (or four if you count New York Titans coach Sammy Baugh) to tally an overall record of .500 or better.

Since taking over in 2009, Ryan has a 28-20 record, to go along with four postseason victories.

5) Herman Edwards: Edwards, who served as New York Jets head coach between 2001 and 2005, had a rollercoaster ride with the team, which included a promising first-place finish in 2002, followed by a disappointing 6-10 record in 2003 and an early playoff ouster in 2004.

6) Walt Michaels: Michaels turned a New York Jets team that finished 3-11 three years in a row in the mid-1970s, into a legitimate playoff contender in just five seasons.

Besides being named Pro Football Weekly Coach of the Year in 1978, he propelled the Jets to two playoff victories during his tenure.

7) Sammy Baugh:

Baugh was the New York Jets' first head coach, way back in 1960 when they were still known as the New York Titans.

He's one of just a handful of coaches for the franchise who finished with a record of .500 or better.

8) Eric Mangini: I believe Mangini's cold approach to the New York media earned him an early exit from the Big Apple, as he wasn't as bad as many made him out to be.

His tenure included an epic collapse in 2008 when Brett Favre was taking the snaps, and that wasn't all Mangini's fault. He finished with a 23-25 overall record in three seasons.

9) Al Groh: Groh gave the New York Jets one solid season at the helm in 2000, as the team finished 9-7. He resigned after one year to pursue a job at the University of Virginia.

10) Bruce Coslet: Coslet finished with a dismal 26-38 overall record, but his tenure included a playoff berth in the 1991 season. Just seven other New York Jets head coaches have taken the team to the playoffs.
