New Jersey Devils Vs. New York Rangers 5/25/12: Kyle's Free NHL Hockey Pick - Sports Chat Place

The Eastern Conference Champion could be crowned in New Jersey on Friday night as the Devils host the Rangers in Game 6 with the former leading the latter by a 3-2 series lead after the Devils skated to a 5-3 victory on Wednesday night. After reaching out to an early 3-goal lead in the first 10 minutes of the game the Devils came away victorious after a fury from New York had the game tied in the 3rd period. New York will be looking to keep their season alive with a do or die win on the road and send the series back to the Big Apple for a deciding Game 7.

The Rangers have had a very successful regular season and a respectable postseason thus far by that could be all for not if they can't salvage a road win in a possible deciding Game 6 which would launch their hated rivals from New Jersey into the Stanley Cup finals. New York had an uncharacteristic first period that proved to be their demise in Game 5 as they gave up 3 first period tallies that they couldn't recover from and now they have their backs against the wall heading into hostile territory with their season on the line. However, the Rangers have been in this situation already this postseason as they were down 3-2 to the Senators heading back to Ottawa and they rifled off back to back wins to move on to the second round and they will be looking for a similar fate here against the Devils.

New Jersey has a chance to get back to the Cup finals and would love to do so at the expense of the Rangers on home ice. The Devils looked fantastic to start Game 5 and while they allowed the Rangers to get back into the game they showed their resiliency and held on for a 5-3 victory. New Jersey knows it's do or die time for the Rangers who are 3-0 in elimination games this postseason and will have to win two more in order to advance to the Cup. However, the Devils have played very in these playoffs and look like a team destined to get back to the finals. While there is a very real possibility this series will go 7 games I think New Jersey knows if they want to win they should get it done in Game 6 and I think they have enough in the tank to send the Rangers packing.
