2012 New York Jets Draft Picks: Fan Reaction - Yahoo! Sports

According to a Yahoo! Sports report, the New York Jets selected Robert T. Griffin at No. 203 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The Jets, who went with Terrance Ganaway just one pick earlier at No. 202, looked to Baylor Bears football standouts to add depth to their backfield and to fortify their lockdown presence at the right guard position.

Here's a look at the New York Jets' top five draft picks of 2012:

1) Quinton Coples: Coples, a 6-foot-6 defensive end from UNC, was selected No. 16 overall by the Jets. The last time the Jets went with a defensive end in the first round, they got Vernon Gholston.

We all know how that one turned out.

If there's anyone who is a safe bet to avoid the "draft bust" label, it's Coples. The Jets needed a smooth, slick pass-rusher, and Coples fits the bills perfectly. Some have questioned his intensity, but I like him a lot. His 290-pound frame and excellent "character" will help him fit in nicely in New York.

2) Stephen Hill: Hill, a 6-foot-4 wide receiver from Georgia Tech, had the height and raw athleticism to get selected in the first round, but he slipped into the second round for some unknown reasons.

Many fans were calling for the Jets to select a wide receiver with their first-round pick, but they were smart for holding out until pick No. 43 to scoop up Hill.

After Floyd, he was definitely the next best option available. The Jets lost Plaxico Burress in the offseason, and they desperately needed another go-to target on the other side of Santonio Holmes. Hill gives them exactly what they're looking for - a superb route runner with excellent field vision and a tremendous upside.

3) Demario Davis: Davis, a 6-foot-2, 235-pounder from Arkansas State, has the size, strength and cardio to become an elite OLB in the NFL.

The Jets got a great value by using their third-round pick on him, as I didn't think he would be available at pick No. 77. Besides earning a spot on the First Team All-Sun Belt Conference squad in 2011, I like Davis because of his solid work ethic and professional approach to the game. The Jets need more "character guys," and that's what Davis gives you.

4) Josh Bush: Bush, a 5-foot-11 safety from Wake Forest, was projected by CBSSports.com to be selected in the seventh round, but the Jets used their No. 187 pick on him.

Bush is a solid talent, but I believe the Jets valued him a bit too high by using their sixth-round pick on him. The Jets obviously liked his ability to play in the slot, his superb quickness and nice range on special teams.

5) Terrance Ganaway: Ganaway, a 239-pound running back from Baylor, was selected in the sixth-round with the No. 202 overall pick.

Much like current Jets' running back Shonn Greene, Ganaway is a downhill runner who doesn't use much lateral movement. The Jets love smashmouth, gritty, ground-and-pound running backs, and that's what Ganaway brings to the table.
