New Jersey Devils at Edmonton Oilers - Gamethread #43 - In Lou We Trust

The Time: 9:00 PM EDT

The Broadcast:TV - MSG+; Radio - 660 AM WFAN

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (22-17-2) at the Edmonton Oilers (16-22-3)

The Previews: Tom did the preview this morning, you can check it out over here. As for an Oilers' based perspective, Derek Zona has this breakdown of news; and Scott Reynolds has this preview/gamethread over at the Copper & Blue.

A Song for Tonight: You know you know this one: "18 and Life" by Skid Row! Burning ELCs has been the Edmonton Way in recent years, so I feel it's rather appropriate for tonight.

Gameday Info: You know what the Devils didn't need after a game where the other team went 6-for-14? News that Travis Zajac will be out for 2-3 weeks. Tom Gulitti reported this morning that doctors recommended that he be kept out due to his sore Achilles; and so the Devils have complied. Here's some more news that Devils fans probably don't want: Cam Janssen will be back in the line up tonight per the middle of this Gulitti post. He's replacing Nick Palmieri, who has done incredibly little in his chance to make another case for a NHL spot. Expect Janssen to miss on hits and charge into nearly all of them. I'll be hoping he doesn't do anything dumb. One more thing, Johan Hedberg will get the start tonight as Gulitti confirmed this afternoon. For all the talk about Brodeur needing to bounce back, how about Moose? He allowed 4 goals out of 9 shots last night and hasn't had a solid outing in over a month (feel free to argue for the last Florida game - if you want to ignore the two goals he allowed that he could've stopped). Who knows, maybe it'll be tonight. Anyone expecting any changes on defense shouldn't hold their breath; it'll be the same six guys from the Calgary game.

With respect to the Oilers, their official website reported that Nikolai Khabibulin will get the start; and that since Ryan O'Marra is ill, they called up Milan Kytnar. That's the Milan Kytnar of the ECHL Stockton Thunder. Expect him on the fourth line with the Boulton & Janssen like wingers of Darcy Hordichuk and Ben Eager.

As usual, you can use the comments in this post to discuss tonight's game before, during, and after it happens until the recap is up. Please remember the rules at all times. Namely: keep your comments clean, keep them on topic, and keep them legal (read: nothing about illegal streams - no links, no discussion, no requests). Go Devils!
