The New York Jets Received an Offensive Line when They Acquired Tim Tebow: Fan ... - Yahoo! Sports

When the New York Jets traded for former Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow, they emphasized that he would be the backup QB to Mark Sanchez. However, it appears that the Jets were not just looking at Tebow as a QB, but as a true football player and an addition to their offensive line.

The Jets saw something in Tebow that many of his fans already knew. When it comes to football, Tebow is like an all-around gymnast. He can play any position in the offensive line and he will do anything to win the game. The Jets saw this and saw their opportunity to take advantage of this all-around player. And it might just work.

While everyone is debating how long it will take before Tebow replaces Sanchez as the starting QB, I have a feeling we may see Tebow starting right alongside Sanchez, but not as a QB. ESPN's Sal Paolantonio has said that the Jets are planning on using Tebow as a fullback, H-back and running back. Even special teams coach Mike Westhoff is hoping to use Tebow on the punt team. Oh, and of course they plan to use him as the wildcat QB.

While Tebow would like to be a QB, he has said numerous times that he is a football player. And while many football players focus on one position, Tebow is truly an all-around player. He can play the QB position though his passing needs some work. But more importantly, he is not afraid to run with the ball, to take the hits or to block. He does what needs to be done for the win and in this way he is his own offensive line.

Having Tebow out on the field in a variety of positions will keep the fans happy. It will also keep the opposing teams on their toes. When Tebow walks out on the field, everyone will wonder which position he is headed for and just what is he going to do with the ball.

His method of playing the game is unique. He brings a strong work ethic and a drive to improve in everything he does. He will do whatever it takes to win the game and he will do what his team needs him to do, regardless of the position. While he may not be the true definition of a QB, he is a true football player. Obviously the Jets saw this and knew that having that all-around player on their team could make a difference. I think the 2012 season will show everyone else that.

So while fans are worried about Tebow sitting on the bench, I honestly don't think that is going to happen. In the end, media star Tebow may see more time on the field than any other player.
