New York Jets: Can Their Offense Keep It Up Versus the Pittsburgh Steelers? - Bleacher Report

After such a dismal preseason, New York Jets fans were elated to see such an offensive outburst at home versus the Buffalo Bills.

The Jets scored the most points in Week 1, and the score itself doesn't even do the game justice, as it was much more of a blowout than the 48-28 score indicates (it was 41-7 late in the third quarter).

So this is all fine and dandy, but can the Jets keep it up come Sunday versus the Steel Curtain?

Before we break anything down, let's assess the Pittsburgh Steelers versus the Denver Broncos.

The Steelers gave up 31 points versus the Broncos (granted one touchdown was a pick-six by Tracy Porter). Denver's Willis McGahee averaged four yards per carry on 14 rushes (yet he did lose a fumble), and Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker had solid outings.

The Steelers D looked mediocre, however it was missing two key veterans in Ryan Clark and James Harrison, who will be playing versus the Jets.

So let's break down the game.

Are Revis and Harrison going to be 100 percent?

Darrelle Revis and James Harrison both should play in Week 2, but both are ailing, with Revis suffering a concussion in the opener.

Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com writes that the "Jets reportedly expect Darrelle Revis to play in Week 2."

I believe that Revis is more important than Harrison to his team, especially with regard to covering either Mike Wallace or Antonio Brown. It will be interesting to see how they match up.

Can Sanchez limit the turnovers and play another solid game in Pittsburgh?

The key factor here is that the game is in Pittsburgh (the team's home opener), and the Steelers are coming off a bad loss to the Broncos.

Mike Tomlin stated that having Clark and Harrison back is not a "cure-all" for the Steelers, and they need to do a better job communicating, according to the Associated Press (via NFL.com).

I think if Sanchez limits the poor decisions and bad throws, the Jets can put up some points against the aging Steelers defense. That being said, it is important for the Jets to allow the offense to come to them and not force anything against a defense that was No. 1 in yards allowed last season.

Granted, this one piggybacks on the previous question, but Hill looked great on the outside against Buffalo, and this will only help Santonio Holmes get open.

I think Hill is an excellent young receiver, and I can see him using his speed, size and athleticism to have a solid outing versus the aggressive Steeler corners. I expect a 5-70 line for Hill.

Verdict?

Considering Shonn Greene's strong showing (27 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown) coupled with Sanchez's strong performance, the Jets can continue to roll on offense. 

Another factor that has yet to be mentioned is Tim Tebow. He had a limited role in Week 1, although Mike Tomlin said he thinks the Jets showed "just the tip of the iceberg" when it comes to the Tebow package.

I think the Jets are capable of putting up some numbers against the Steelers, and the Jets D should play well. The 6.5-point spread favoring the Steelers seems a little high, as I expect this to be an evenly played, strong game with the Steelers eking out a last-second field goal.
