New York Giants: How Long Will David Wilson Be in Tom Coughlin's Doghouse? - Bleacher Report

How long will David Wilson be in Tom Coughlin's doghouse?

David Wilson secured himself a spot in Tom Coughlin's doghouse after that fumble in the Dallas Cowboys’ territory.

Coughlin historically doesn't like playing rookies, but Wilson got his shot on opening night! Right after the New York Giants won the Super Bowl the season before!

As we all know Wilson blew it. He carried the ball twice for four yards...but one of those carries was a fumble.

Wilson will still get carries throughout the season; you don't draft a guy in the first round to let him ride the bench every game after one mistake.

Still, that fumble changes the landscape of the running back depth chart though for the G-Men. Let's say Wilson doesn't fumble that ball, he would've easily gotten more carries as the game progressed.

Instead, Wilson goes from a possible 1A, 1B situation with Bradshaw to a flat-out No. 1, No. 2.

Some people may debate that he was the clear-cut No. 2 anyway, but that's another article for another day.

Wilson is going to have to bust his tail in practice if he wants to begin the process of working his way out of the doghouse.

Before Week 6, Wilson should be more or less in the same position he was in during Week 1. This isn't going to stick with Wilson for the rest of his NFL career unless he lets it.

What Wilson really needs to do is learn how to hold the ball lower and secure it properly. No crying on the sideline. That can wait until it's time to go to the locker room.

This NFL season is a long one, let's hope that Wilson keeps that in mind and improves as the season progresses.
