New York Jets QB Tim Tebow's Image Saving Becomes Too Much: Fan Perspective - Yahoo! Sports

After seeing the Broadway musical "Rock Ages," New York Jets QB Tim Tebow posed for a picture with some of the cast members. However, when that photo surfaced on one of the cast member's Twitter accounts, she was allegedly asked to remove the photo because it might cause problems to Tebow's image.

Tebow is of course the backup QB who had an amazing season in 2011 with the Denver Broncos. He is well known for his strong Christian values and the fact that he is a virgin and is saving himself for marriage.

Now, I admire this fact about Tebow but I think asking for a picture to be taken down in the fear it may tarnish that image is only asking for more publicity. Granted, these women in the photo are dressed like strippers. However, they are actresses playing a part and are actually wearing more clothes than most NFL cheerleaders.

I thought Tebow was a smart guy but this latest move shows me that he, or at least his public relations team, has a lot to learn. Does he not realize that he is a celebrity? Does he not realize that any picture he poses for is fair game and is bound to end up on Twitter, Facebook or somewhere else on the internet?

In all honesty though, I doubt Tebow himself had anything to do with the request that the photo be taken down. I believe it all boils down to his public relations team. But the question I have to wonder is if his public relations team was really trying to save his image or just gain more publicity? I mean, let's be honest here. How many people would have seen this photo if it had just been posted by the woman in the picture? I probably would never have seen it.

But when rumors surface that Tebow has asked to have the photo removed to protect his image, it then becomes a story that everyone wants to cover. It is the offseason, so the media is looking for any story they can on Tebow. We have already heard that Tebow is showing improvement on his game mechanics and that the Jets are happy with his performance and the controversy between Tebow and Mark Sanchez is losing steam.

I think that maybe this little story about a picture with some beautiful women was the perfect chance to create more media attention and keep Tebow in the spotlight. And it worked.

However, if it was in fact Tebow feeling he may have damaged his reputation by posing in the picture, then maybe he needs to learn to get out from in front of a camera.
