Former Friars To Lead New Jersey Devils In Stanley Cup Finals - Providence College Athletics

NEWARK, N.J. -

Former Providence College hockey standouts Lou Lamoriello `63 and Mark Fayne `10 will lead the New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Finals, beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30 on NBC. The Devils, who ousted the top-seeded New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals, will play the Los Angeles Kings in a best-of-seven series.

Since joining New Jersey in 1987, Lamoriello, who is the CEO, President and General Manager, has led the Devils to three Stanley Cup titles with the last championship coming in 2003.

Fayne has played in all 18 playoff games this season and has three assists, including a career-high two assists in a 5-3 win over the New York Rangers in game five of the Eastern Conference Finals. Fayne, a defenseman, also played in 82 regular season games and posted a career-high 17 points (4 g, 13 a).

In addition, former Friars Chris Terreri `86 (goaltending coach), Chris Lamoriello `94 (senior vice president of hockey operations), Matt Taormina `09 (played 30 games for the New Jersey Devils this season), Chris Ciceri `72 (CEO - Albany Devils) and Gates Orlando `84 (scout) are all part of the Devils organization.
