Several musicians have taken their New York Jets fandom to the next level by creating tribute songs dedicated to the green-and-white.
Here's a look at the top five New York Jets tribute songs:
1) "J-E-T-S" by Chunky: During the New York Jets' playoff run of the 2010-11 season, 92.3 NOW's Chunky created an anthemic tune in the Jets' honor. "J-E-T-S" is essentially a local take on Wiz Khalifa's "Black & Yellow," with a hearty sampling of hip hop-flavored beats.
2) "Rex's Gang Green" by Fox Experience and featuring Sean Henry: Fox Experience made headlines in New York when they appeared on the Boomer & Carton radio program on WFAN to perform "Rex's Gang Green," a fantastic tune dedicated to the New York Jets.
This one gets my vote as the best Jets tribute because it doesn't sample "Black and Yellow," and it's completely original. The Fox Experience is a creation of Matt Fox, a Long Island-based songwriter. Lyrics include "Leave it to the Sanchize, leader of the franchise. Yeah, we better than you by a landslide."
3) "Green and White" by TwonDon: This hip hop tune is another fresh take on Wiz Khalifa's "Black & Yellow," as the lyrics open with "Reppin' my town. Every time I come around, I'm in green-and-white."
Even more impressive is that this Englewood, NJ-based group was unsigned and fairly unheard of before they posted this song to YouTube, and their "Green and White" tribute brought them plenty of newfound fame. It tallied close to 400,000 views in the year it has been up.
4) "Let's Go Jets" by Q104.3: This Jets tribute features cheesy 1980s-themed guitar riffage and awesomely cheesy lyrics like "There is no tomorrow. There only is today. The AFC East is gon' have it our way." The song originally appeared on Q104.3 during the New York Jets' playoff run of 2009.
5) Broadway Joe theme song: Joe Namath is the only New York Jets quarterback to bring the franchise a Super Bowl title, which means he remains a beloved figure in the Big Apple to this day. The Broadway Joe theme song features the lyrics "Put the football in his hand and right away you'll understand why Broadway Joe's the greatest of them all."
