The New Jersey Nets lost their eighth game in their last nine tries Monday night as they were beaten by the Atlanta Hawks. The Nets nets never led after taking a 2-0 on a Johan Petro 8-footer in the first quarter, committing 16 turnovers in the loss.
New Jersey shot well, hitting almost 47 percent of their field goals including 11-for-22 on 3-pointers. Unfortunately, the Hawks shot better, hitting nearly 54 percent of their field goals led by a 10-for-14 performance by Josh Smith. Deron Williams had a nice night, racking up 14 assists in addition to his 15 points on 6-for-17 shooting.
Atlanta led by as many as 16 points in the first quarter, holding the Nets to just 18 points through the game's first stanza. Monday was the third meeting between the two teams so far this season, all of which have resulted in Atlanta wins.
